Normalized quotes: apples-to-apples freight comparisons

Procurement6 min read

The comparison problem

Forwarders quote differently: some bundle charges, others split line items. Without a normalized model, comparisons are biased and slow.

Normalization = map all quotes to a shared structure: Base + Fuel + Handling + Duty/Tax + Surcharges.

The line-item model

  • Base (by lane/mode)
  • Fuel (explicit or %)
  • Handling (origin/destination)
  • Surcharges (security, remote area, etc.)
  • Duties & Taxes (if applicable)

Scoring beyond price

Price matters — but so do ETA, service level, and compliance. Use weighted scoring (e.g., 60/25/15).

Workflow in Logwo

  1. Define your template
  2. Collect structured bids
  3. Auto-map to your line-item model
  4. Compare with weights & exceptions surfaced
  5. Award + export audit summary
Result: faster decisions, less rework, and defensible awards.
